At First Baptist Charlotte, we recognize the need for formal membership.
The difference between “attenders” & “members” can be summed up in one word: commitment!
Why Join First Baptist Charlotte?
We ask you to commit to membership for four reasons.
1. A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.
Christ loved the church and gave His life for it.
2. A Cultural Reason: It is an antidote to our society.
We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything.
3. A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on.
Membership identifies our family.
4. A Personal Reason: It produces spiritual growth.
We are accountable to one another for spiritual growth.
How to Join First Baptist Charlotte
There are three ways a person may join First Baptist Church. They are:
1. Profession of Faith/Baptism
When a person accepts Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, thus becoming a new Christian, they may request membership by publicly professing their faith and asking for baptism. If a person is a Christian but has not been baptized by immersion, they may request membership through baptism.
2. Transfer of Letter
If a Christian is a member of another Baptist Church, they may request membership by asking that we accept them into our fellowship on promise of letter confirming their membership in a sister church. The Church Office contacts the sister church and requests the letter for transfer of membership.
3. Statement of Faith & Previous Baptism
If a person is a Christian but not a member of a Baptist church, they may request membership by giving testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and having been previously baptized as a believer by immersion.
If you have other questions or would like more information regarding baptism, please call the church office at 704.375.1446.
Learn More About Membership
We offer two special opportunities to learn more about membership at First Baptist:
Membership Track is a class that focuses specifically on the practical steps that guests and new members should take to become fully engaged members of First Baptist Charlotte.
Membership Track consists of four sessions:
Church 101 - Discover and Church 201 - Decide:
These sessions allow guests to learn more about First Baptist and determine if this is the church for them.
Church 301 - Develop:
This session focuses on what it means to be a church member and provides information about ways to grow and connect here at First Baptist.
Church 401 - Deploy:
This session provides information about numerous opportunities to serve.
Membership Track is taught three times a year by Pastor Mark Harris. The class meets in Room 245 at 9:15 on Sunday mornings. Contact Whitney Burrows for more information about the class.
Lunch with the Pastor
Our next Lunch with the Pastor will be Sunday, August 6th following the 10:30am Worship Service. This is a fun, casual afternoon that allows you as guests to meet our ministers and their wives, learn more about FBC, and ask any questions you may have about the church. A delicious, hearty lunch and childcare are provided. While
there is no pressure to do so, there is an opportunity to unite with the church at the end of the event. Reservations are needed and may be made by contacting Whitney Burrows by July 30th.
If you are interested in becoming a member of First Baptist Charlotte, feel free to speak with one of our Pastors or with our Director of Assimilation, Whitney Burrows.
